The Ultimate Ecosystem of Tools for Laser Cutting and CNC

Welcome to the LazSpot ToolBox. If you've ever spent hours trying to draw a box with perfect joints in CorelDRAW or Illustrator, manually calculating material thickness and praying the pieces fit, you know how frustrating traditional 2D design can be. Our suite of parametric generators eliminates manual labor, allowing you to create SVG files ready to send to LightBurn, RDWorks, or LaserGRBL in seconds.

What is Parametric Design and why do you need it?

Parametric design is not based on drawing static lines, but on establishing mathematical rules and variables. Instead of drawing a 10x10 cm rectangle, you tell our software: "I want a box that measures X wide, Y high, using a material of Z thickness". If you change the material thickness from 3mm to 6mm, the algorithm instantly recalculates the position, size, and quantity of all interlocking teeth (tabs).

Our web generators apply these mathematics in real-time directly in your browser. This means you don't need to install expensive CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software or learn complex 3D modeling to manufacture functional products.

The Science Behind Joints: Finger Joint vs. Tab & Slot

Manufacturing three-dimensional objects from flat sheets of MDF or acrylic requires precise joining methods. LazSpot offers you the two most robust systems in the industry:

Finger Joints (Interlocking)

Also known as box joints or multiple mortise and tenon. The software divides the edge of the wood into staggered square tabs that hug each other at the corners. They provide immense surface area for applying glue, creating structurally indestructible boxes. Ideal for wine boxes, chests, and heavy packaging.

Tab & Slot Joints

A cleaner aesthetic approach. Instead of teeth along the entire edge, a few tabs are created on one piece that insert into closed holes (Slots) on the perpendicular piece. It is the favorite system for assembling shelves, display stands, dollhouses, and modular desk organizers.

The Mathematics of Kerf and Tolerances

The laser beam is not infinitely thin; it has a thickness that burns material as it passes (Kerf). If the software drew the teeth exactly the same size as the holes, the pieces would be loose after cutting. LazSpot's algorithm applies a mathematical Kerf compensation to achieve a press-fit assembly.

If the total length of an edge is $L$, the number of teeth is $N$, and the entered Kerf is $K$, the algorithm calculates the adjusted width of a tooth ($W_{corte}$) using the following parametric equation:

$$W_{corte} = \left(\frac{L}{2N + 1}\right) + \frac{K}{2}$$

By adjusting the Kerf slider in our tools, you are altering this formula in milliseconds to ensure your box assembles without needing glue or a hammer.

Advanced Geometry: Living Hinge and Circular Boxes

Breaking the rules of wood rigidity is the holy grail for makers. Our Living Hinge tool generates sinusoidal cutting patterns and staggered lines that alter the structural integrity of MDF or plywood, allowing a rigid board to bend up to 180 degrees without breaking. It's the perfect technique for book covers, briefcases, and curved lamps.

On the other hand, the Circular Box generator uses trigonometry to calculate the exact perimeter of a circumference and generates the precise number of interlocking "staves" to wrap around round bases. Designing this by hand requires hours of pi ($\pi$) calculations; with LazSpot, it takes 5 seconds.

Raster vs. Vector: The Power of our Vectorizer

Laser machines speak a language based on coordinates (G-Code). When you send a JPG or PNG photograph (a bitmap or Raster), the laser can only do a horizontal sweep, turning the beam on and off thousands of times, which is extremely slow (Engraving).

If you want the machine to cut a silhouette quickly, you need a Vector (SVG, DXF, AI). Our integrated Vectorizer uses path tracing algorithms to analyze the contrasts of a black and white image, calculate its edges, and transform them into perfect mathematical Bézier curves. Upload your client's logo in JPG and download an SVG ready to cut in an instant.

Software that Understands the Workshop Business

Making pretty boxes is useless if the business loses money. That's why the LazSpot ToolBox is not limited to graphic design; we have integrated a complete administrative suite for workshop owners:

  • CNC Price Calculator: Enter your laser tube wear, your electricity bill, and your shop rent. Discover your real operating cost per minute to stop charging blindly.
  • Digital Workshop Notes: Archive your speed and power parameters (e.g., "3mm MDF: 300mm/m at 80%") safely in the cloud. No more lost post-it notes in the sawdust.
  • Your Private Vector Cloud: Centralize your most profitable projects and organize them with tags to access them from any device without carrying USB drives.

Accelerate Your Production Today

Our tools save an average of 45 minutes of design time per project. Time you can use to close more sales or calibrate your machines.
